2. _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__I_n_f_o_r_m_a_t_i_o_n
This chapter lists supplemental information to the _I_R_I_S
_S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e. The information listed here is
product- and release-specific; use it with the Installation
Guide to install this product.
Dynaweb is a CGI program meant to be executed by an existing
HTTP server (such as the Netscape Fasttrack or Enterprise
server), allowing web-based viewing of online documentation
locally available via the IRIS InSight tool.
2.1 _D_y_n_a_w_e_b__S_u_b_s_y_s_t_e_m_s
Dynaweb includes these subsystems:
_d_y_n_a_w_e_b._m_a_n._m_a_n Dynaweb (InSight to HTML) Man Pages, 4.4.1
_d_y_n_a_w_e_b._m_a_n._r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s Dynaweb (InSight to HTML) Release Notes, 4.4.1
_d_y_n_a_w_e_b._s_w._e_o_e Dynaweb (InSight to HTML) Software, 4.4.1
2.2 _D_y_n_a_w_e_b__S_u_b_s_y_s_t_e_m__D_i_s_k__S_p_a_c_e__R_e_q_u_i_r_e_m_e_n_t_s
This section lists the subsystems (and their sizes) of
Dynaweb.
If you are installing this product for the first time, the
subsystems marked ``default'' are the ones that are
installed if you use the ``go'' menu item. To install a
different set of subsystems, use the ``install,''
``remove,'' ``keep,'' and ``step'' commands in _i_n_s_t to
customize the list of subsystems to be installed, then
select the ``go'' menu item.
Note: The listed subsystem sizes are approximate. Refer to
the _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e for information
on finding exact sizes.
Subsystem Name Subsystem Size (Kilobytes)
_d_y_n_a_w_e_b._m_a_n._m_a_n (default) 1
_d_y_n_a_w_e_b._m_a_n._r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s (default) 12
_d_y_n_a_w_e_b._s_w._e_o_e (default) 7561

2.3 _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__M_e_t_h_o_d
All of the subsystems for Dynaweb can be installed using
IRIX. You do not need to use the miniroot. Refer to the
_I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e for complete installation
instructions.
2.4 _P_r_e_r_e_q_u_i_s_i_t_e_s
Dynaweb requires that the latest _i_n_s_i_g_h_t__b_a_s_e._s_w._e_o_e be
installed. You should also have some IRIS InSight books
installed.
2.5 _C_o_n_f_i_g_u_r_a_t_i_o_n__F_i_l_e_s
Additional InSight bookshelves can be added to Dynaweb
through modifications made to
/_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_I_n_s_i_g_h_t/_d_a_t_a/_c_o_n_f_i_g/_c_o_l_l_e_c_t_s._d_w_c. See comments
within that file for more information.
2.6 _O_t_h_e_r__I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n__I_n_f_o_r_m_a_t_i_o_n
The Dynaweb installation links your existing IRIS InSight
library location into your HTTP server's document root. By
default, the command is as follows:
#### llllnnnn ----ssss ////uuuussssrrrr////sssshhhhaaaarrrreeee////IIIInnnnssssiiiigggghhhhtttt////lllliiiibbbbrrrraaaarrrryyyy ////vvvvaaaarrrr////wwwwwwwwwwww////hhhhttttddddooooccccssss
This is necessary for Dynaweb to run properly. If your IRIS
InSight library location _O_R your HTTP server's document root
differ from the defaults shown above, please execute this
command (via a shell) with the correct values.
Dynaweb runs as a CGI (Common Gateway Interface) process.
Most HTTP servers from SGI ship configured for Dynaweb to
run properly. For example, Dynaweb will work with any
server instance of Fasttrack (2.01, 3.02, etc.) or
Enterprise (2.01, 3.0, etc.) that has been correctly
configured.
If you have an existing server instance already installed
(or are having problems running Dynaweb) this server
instance may not be properly configured for Dynaweb to work.
Follow these steps:
- 3 -
+o Edit the obj.conf file for the server instance you will
be using. For example, on a default Fasttrack 2.01
installation, the obj.conf file would be found at
(replace [hostname] with the host name of the system):
////uuuussssrrrr////nnnnssss----hhhhoooommmmeeee////hhhhttttttttppppdddd----[[[[hhhhoooossssttttnnnnaaaammmmeeee]]]]////ccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg////oooobbbbjjjj....ccccoooonnnnffff
On a default Fasttrack 3.x installation, the obj.conf
file would be found at (replace [hostname] with the
host name of the system):
////vvvvaaaarrrr////nnnneeeettttssssccccaaaappppeeee////ffffaaaassssttttttttrrrraaaacccckkkk////hhhhttttttttppppdddd----[[[[hhhhoooossssttttnnnnaaaammmmeeee]]]]////ccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg////oooobbbbjjjj....ccccoooonnnnffff
On a default Enterprise 3.0 installation, the obj.conf
file would be found at (replace [hostname] with the
host name of the system):
////vvvvaaaarrrr////nnnneeeettttssssccccaaaappppeeee////ssssuuuuiiiitttteeeessssppppooootttt////hhhhttttttttppppssss----[[[[hhhhoooossssttttnnnnaaaammmmeeee]]]]////ccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg////oooobbbbjjjj....ccccoooonnnnffff
+o Locate the following line in obj.conf (exact syntax may
vary, but it is the definition of the primary /cgi-bin
directory):
NNNNaaaammmmeeeeTTTTrrrraaaannnnssss ffffnnnn====""""ppppffffxxxx2222ddddiiiirrrr"""" ffffrrrroooommmm====""""////ccccggggiiii----bbbbiiiinnnn"""" ddddiiiirrrr====""""////vvvvaaaarrrr////wwwwwwwwwwww////ccccggggiiii----bbbbiiiinnnn"""" nnnnaaaammmmeeee====""""ccccggggiiii""""
+o Immediately after this line, add the following two
lines:
NNNNaaaammmmeeeeTTTTrrrraaaannnnssss ffffnnnn====""""ppppffffxxxx2222ddddiiiirrrr"""" ffffrrrroooommmm====""""////eeeebbbbtttt----bbbbiiiinnnn"""" ddddiiiirrrr====""""////uuuussssrrrr////lllliiiibbbb////IIIInnnnssssiiiigggghhhhtttt////ddddwwwweeeebbbb////ccccggggiiii----bbbbiiiinnnn"""" nnnnaaaammmmeeee====""""ccccggggiiii""""
NNNNaaaammmmeeeeTTTTrrrraaaannnnssss ffffnnnn====""""ppppffffxxxx2222ddddiiiirrrr"""" ffffrrrroooommmm====""""////eeeebbbbtttt----iiiiccccoooonnnnssss"""" ddddiiiirrrr====""""////uuuussssrrrr////lllliiiibbbb////IIIInnnnssssiiiigggghhhhtttt////ddddwwwweeeebbbb////iiiiccccoooonnnnssss""""
Ideally, you should use the Netscape Admin Server to
perform this operation for you. However, the lines can
be added by hand.
+o After adding the appropriate information, the HTTP
server will need to be restarted.
Alternatively, if you are running a NCSA-style server, place
the following lines in the file
<server_config_dir>/srm.conf:
AAAAlllliiiiaaaassss ////eeeebbbbtttt----iiiiccccoooonnnnssss//// ////uuuussssrrrr////lllliiiibbbb////IIIInnnnssssiiiigggghhhhtttt////ddddwwwweeeebbbb////iiiiccccoooonnnnssss////
SSSSccccrrrriiiippppttttAAAAlllliiiiaaaassss ////eeeebbbbtttt----bbbbiiiinnnn////nnnnpppphhhh----ddddwwwweeeebbbb ////uuuussssrrrr////lllliiiibbbb////IIIInnnnssssiiiigggghhhhtttt////ddddwwwweeeebbbb////ccccggggiiii----bbbbiiiinnnn////nnnnpppphhhh----ddddwwwweeeebbbb

2.7 _E_x_e_c_u_t_i_o_n__A_f_t_e_r__I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n
After the software has been installed, you can examine the
contents of your IRIS InSight library under Dynaweb:
%%%% <<<<wwwweeeebbbb____bbbbrrrroooowwwwsssseeeerrrr>>>> hhhhttttttttpppp::::////////llllooooccccaaaallllhhhhoooosssstttt////eeeebbbbtttt----bbbbiiiinnnn////nnnnpppphhhh----ddddwwwweeeebbbb////ddddyyyynnnnaaaawwwweeeebbbb
Substitute your favorite WWW browser for "<web_browser>" in
the previous example.
If "localhost" does not work as shown above, substitute the
appropriate HTTP server name/port for the machine in which
Dynaweb has been installed.
